EPR Insulated Fire Resistant Shipboard Power Cable
Our 0.6/1kV EPR Insulated Fire Resistant Shipboard Power Cables combine the inherent flexibility of Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) with a dedicated fire-resistant mica glass tape layer, delivering circuit integrity under flame exposure for critical shipboard and offshore systems—including fire pumps, emergency lighting, alarm systems, and ventilation controls.
Overview
1. Fire Resistance Technology: Mica Tape + EPR
Unlike standard flame-retardant cables that only limit flame spread, our fire resistant cables incorporate a dual-layer insulation system engineered to maintain electrical function during a fire:
Mica Glass Tape – Provides active fire resistance; maintains circuit integrity under direct flame exposure.
EPR (Ethylene Propylene Rubber) – Delivers excellent flexibility, superior moisture resistance, and reliable electrical insulation under normal operating conditions.
The fire resistance performance complies with IEC 60331, which requires cables to maintain circuit integrity under flame conditions. Test parameters: 90 minutes of flame application + 15 minutes after flame removal, with a flame temperature of 750°C, during which the cable must power normally without electrical breakdown.

3. Product Series & Construction
We offer two primary series to meet diverse fire safety and environmental requirements:
3.1 CEPJ/NC & CEPF/NC Series (LSZH Fire Resistant – Armored)
These cables combine full LSZH properties with fire resistance, suitable for high-risk areas where both low smoke emission and circuit integrity are critical.
Insulation: Mica glass tape + EPR
Inner Sheath: PJ (SHF2 – thermoset) or PF (SHF1 – thermoplastic)
Armor: 8 – Tinned copper wire braid / 9 – Galvanized steel wire braid
Outer Sheath: 5 (SHF2) or 6 (SHF1)
Flammability: NC (LSHF Fire Resistant, IEC 60331)
Application: High-risk areas (engine rooms, drilling platforms) requiring both fire resistance and LSZH properties
3.2 CEV/NA & CEF/NA Series (PVC/PCP Fire Resistant)
Insulation: Mica glass tape + EPR
Inner Sheath: V (PVC) or F (Chloroprene Rubber / PCP)
Armor: 8 – Tinned copper wire braid / 9 – Galvanized steel wire braid
Outer Sheath: 0 (without) or 2 (PVC)
Flammability: NA (Fire Resistant, IEC 60331)
Application: General marine environments where fire resistance is the primary requirement
4. Application Scenarios
Environment | Recommended Series | Sheath | Rationale |
Engine rooms, machinery spaces | CEPJ/NC | SHF2 | Fire resistance + high oil resistance + EPR flexibility |
Decks, outdoor areas | CEPJ/NC | SHF2 | Fire resistance + UV and temperature resistance |
Emergency circuits, fire pumps, alarms | CEV/NA or CEPJ/NC | PVC / SHF2 | IEC 60331 fire resistance for critical circuits |
Cabins, control rooms | CEPF/NC | SHF1 | Economical LSZH fire resistant solution |
Drilling platforms, mud zones | CEPJ/NC | SHF2 | Fire resistance + mud-resistant grade |
General marine areas | CEV/NA | PVC | Standard PVC fire resistant cable |
EPR insulation provides superior flexibility, moisture resistance, and chemical resistance, making it particularly suitable for vibration-prone equipment and installations in humid or chemically exposed environments.
5. Why Choose Our EPR Fire Resistant Cables?
Dual Fire Protection – Mica tape + EPR insulation delivers both fire resistance (IEC 60331) and superior electrical performance under normal conditions.
Superior Flexibility – EPR insulation offers excellent flexibility compared to XLPE, making it ideal for installations requiring frequent bending or routing in confined spaces.
Proven Marine Reliability – EPR has decades of proven performance in shipboard and offshore applications, with excellent resistance to moisture, oil, and temperature variations.
Full LSZH Safety (NC series) – Low smoke, zero halogen, Category A flame retardancy – minimizes toxic fumes and maintains visibility during fire emergencies.
Circuit Integrity Under Fire – Compliant with IEC 60331, ensuring critical systems remain operational during a fire emergency.
Material Flexibility – Choose between SHF1 (thermoplastic) and SHF2 (thermoset) sheaths, or PVC/PCP options, based on environmental requirements.
Corrosion Resistant – Tinned copper conductor and braid armor resist marine corrosion.
International Compliance – Manufactured to IEC standards for global marine and offshore projects.
